When the wind blows?!
Contrary to expectations, fueled by "global warming" alarmists and seemingly endless reminders of Hurricane Katrina one year ago, rainstorm Ernesto did not strengthen after leaving the Cuban coast and was weakening further as it swirled over southern Florida.
Ernesto lost even more of its punch this morning, when its maximum sustained winds were recorded at all of 40 miles per hour.
Further weakening is expected during the day, when the rainstorm is expected to move back out into the Atlantic Ocean.
It's expected to make landfall again in South Carolina on Thursday, according to the National Hurricane Center.
On Sunday, Ernesto had strengthened into the first Atlantic hurricane of the year, causing one death in Haiti before losing its punch Monday as it moved over Cuba.
Other than for that one poor soul in Haiti, it was pretty much a non-event.
Break out the umbrellas, SC...

If the hurricanes get stronger, it proves global warming because the oceans are warmer. If the hurricanes get weaker, it proves global warming because the gulf steam flow was interrupted removing the hurricanes power source (a la "Day after Tomorrow") - everything proves them right according to 'them'
What caused the global warming that allowed the Vikings to colonize Greenland? Was it our fireplaces and campfires?
White people cause hurricanes. We know this to be trrue because there were no recorded Carribean hurricanes prior to 1492.
I see the Atlantis had to be shuffled about due to the THREAT. Hopefully the Global Warming won't expand the atomosphere and cause the ISS to slow down,,,.....????
"rainstorm Ernesto" is right, Jack. Just another example of how the LSM is totally "stuck on stupid." Between the constant barrage of non-stories about John Mark Karr, "rainstorm Ernesto," and the renewal of Katrina-inspired Bush-bashing over the past couple of days, the "news" has gotten downright ridiculous. Oh, and let's not forget the newest story about that pervert, Warren Jeffs, who has finally been aprehended. Last night on Hannity and Commie, Mark Fuhrman said that Jeffs "is not a polygamist. He's a rapist and a pimp!" Perfect description of Jeffs, and may he get the daily opportunity to be someone's "love slave" in prison!
Aside from some 'outer band' thunderstorms last night, and the endless drizzle of today, Ernesto was a flop. But it did provide valuable practice for the emergency planners. So on that note, Ernesto was useful.
Perhaps the howler that ripped through your area last weekend was worse than Ernesto? Inquiring minds need to know.

This "global warming" business reminds me of that line uttered by the psychiatrist character in "The Terminator" who says that the guy from the future's "psychotic delusion" is brilliant because it doesn't require a shred of proof.

You may have something there...and it seems to be contagious.

I can just see the headlines now; "Atlantis affected by Global Warming!"
(And now it's a lost continent)
'da Bunny:
Exactly, just one more example of how the outdated (formerly known as "mainstream") media is always trying to sensationalize everything, as if we needed any more examples.
benning:
Like I said, rainstorm Ernesto. But as you say, practice for the emergency response folks is a good thing, I s'pose.
Hawkeye®:
The thunder-banger/hailstorm that blew through here last weekend was packing 60 MPH winds, whereas Ernesto was down to 40 MPH when it visited Florida, so in that respect the former was worse indeed...
All this rehashing of Katrina makes me long for the good old days of the DaVinci Code. 8>O

"...seemingly endless reminders", yes. But the American public LOVES anniversaries...
Great photo. And you didn't even need to photoshop it.
Marge -- my code was hzzvcdxq. If you unscramble those letters, they clearly say DaVinci. Wahooo!.
That is, you have to use your Joe Wilson secret decoder ring, which is available as a prize for the most registered voters from your local cemetery.

It would seem that Photoshop can do many things...including cost certain unscrupulous individuals their job. I've never bothered to learn how it's done, myself.
As for the code stuff, I prefer cryptograms, but my word verification string was egmgju.
(Which is an anagram for meg jug)
