When the wind blows...not.
Although the Atlantic hurricane season doesn't technically end until November 30, I'm going to go "out on a limb" here, and declare the doomsayers wrong.
This year's hurricane season was a major bust.
(But that's a good thing!)
After last year's record hurricane season, the global warming - oh wait, that's "climate change", so you can blame anything and everything on it - proponents were predicting ever worsening things to come.
The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration monitors these things, and has a lot of information about it, among other things.
When something is brewing, they have their own Storm Tracker
They also have an impressive collection of resources devoted to the climate.
I think some folks are just full of hot air...

We just have had a seminar talking about the global warming. Here is some number: Another 40F rise in next 35-40 years?!
Here is some public response:
1. 94% of respondents said the U.S. should limit its GHG emissions at least as much as other developed countries do on average.
2. 73% said the U.S. should participate in Kyoto, up from 64% in 2002.
I guess the auto company will need invent some auto without discharge GHG emission.
I can still remember when greenhouse gases caused Global Freezing and it was the end of the world...
When that was proven to be false, they took that same data and claimed Global Warming is now the end of the world...
Wonder what will be next when that theory is proved wrong???
"Global warming," my arse! If there are climate changes, they are the result of Father God's will, and NOT "Mother Nature," or "evil mankind's" environmental impact. Just more leftist bilge coming from the "blame-America-first" crowd, who never practice what they preach. Just look at idiot Streisand with her 12,000 sq. ft. air-conditioned barn on her Malibu estate. She also drives a gas-guzzling SUV! [gasp!!] And, how about that jackass, RFK, Jr., "limousine-liberal extraordinare," jetting around telling the rest of us to stop using fossil-fuels. You be first, Kennedys...planning on closing any of your "compounds" in an effort to CONSERVE ENERGY!
How much of a reduction in "greenhouse gasses" would take place if all these lying liberal whiners would shut up?
CAN YA' TELL THAT I'M FED UP WITH ALL THE CRAPOLA? [I know...why don't I say what I really think. Heh, heh...]
Should have been a "?" after energy in the 1st paragraph. I was too fired up to proofread! ;-(
onlineanalyst:
More than 17,000 scientists have signed a petition refuting claims that global warming is human-induced. There's just not enough verifiable data.
DreamingLady:
I don't know about your seminar, but I've got a feeling it was influenced by someone with an agenda. A 40º rise in 35-40 years seems ridiculous, since there's only been a 1º rise in the last 100 years.
Public response is largely based on (flawed) polls, influenced by (biased) media.
1. The U.S. should limit its emissions as much possible (within reason), as should everyone.
2. Kyoto gives over ½ of the world a "free pass", under "developing nation" status...a total crock.
(It should be all, or nothing)
I would be great, for a number of reasons, if we could wean ourselves off of fossil fuels; I just don't see that happening quite yet.

Back in the 70's, yes, Global Cooling was en vogue. That's why I said: "oh wait, that's "climate change", so you can blame anything and everything on it".
According to Harvard's Dr. Malcolm Ross: "Freeze or fry, the problem is always industrial capitalism, and the solution is always international socialism."
'da Bunny:
Edward Kennedy (et al) is a total hypocrite, since he opposes a clean energy wind farm on Cape Cod, because it will "spoil" his view...
As far as polls and public opinion goes, I'm with Mark Twain. They already have all the fools in the country on their side, and that's a big enough majority in any country!
BTW,
An article in Reason posits that the cure for global warming is worse than the global warming. Heck I already knew that!
Check it out here.
Beerme:
I tend to agree with a lot of things said by Samuel Clemens.
(Mark Twain)
Excellent article, BTW; thanks...
OT, but speaking of Clemens/Twain, I heard that some school in MI is banning "Huckleberry Finn," because the mother of the only "African-American"* kid in the class was upset by the "n-word" being used in the book! Well, having read that book as a teen, and also having read and analyzed it in a "Masterpieces of American Literature" class in college, I can attest to the fact that the book is a true classic in every sense of the word, and espouses an anti-slavery view. More leftist bilge from PC idiots, trying to rewrite history! Perhaps "Momma" ought to READ that book, before she starts screaming and whining about it's content, eh?
God forbid that she, OR her child, should learn something constructive. Now, the kid's "learning experience" is, "make a scene, get your way!"
*..."African-American" is, technically, not an accurate term, since Africa is a CONTINENT and not a country.
'da Bunny:
From the Wikipedia article on Mark Twain:
From the time of its publication there have been occasional attempts to ban Huckleberry Finn from various libraries because Twain's use of local color is offensive to some people. Although Twain was against racism and imperialism far ahead of the public sentiment of his time, those who have only superficial familiarity with his work have sometimes condemned it as racist because it accurately depicts language in common use in the 19th-century United States. Expressions that were used casually and unselfconsciously then are often perceived today as racist; today, such racial epithets are far more visible and condemned.
Regarding the term "African-American", I am opposed to all hyphenated American labels...I'd prefer it that we consider ourselves just Americans.
Oh, and...eleventeen!!!
darth_meister:
Yes, just a category one and they would claim to be vindicated. But I believe 35-40 degrees were what was said; those folks are prone to exaggerate.
The article Beerme posted a link to seems to claim a lot of global warming is (of course!) due to the heat of the Sun, and the same would go for Mars...
I can't imagine they'd tell us fibs, Camo. Jeepers!
I'm still following the cooling trends, myself, and the seismic activity under the seas. Y'know, things the Global Warming nuts are ignoring.
Don't give up hope, global warming could have changed the Hurricane Season and maybe it just hasn't started yet...
benning:
People with agendas use statistics...and as the aforementioned Samuel Clemens/Mark Twain said, "there are three types of lies: lies, damn lies, and statistics."
Also, in addition to the undersea seismic activity, don't forget the undersea volcanic activity. That stuff is pretty freakin' warm, and there's a lot of it...
mig:
I know Hurricane Season isn't over yet, but I don't believe that global warming/climate change has a thing to do with it...
