Take a hike!!!

I'm heading off for a vacation in New England, staying for a week in Maine taking day hikes on the Appalachian Trail, culminating in a trip to a hiker get-together the following weekend in Hanover, NH:

The Autumn colors should be at their peak when I'm up there, too.

One of the places on the A.T. that I'm looking forward to visiting is the Mahoosuc Notch, the so-called "hardest mile" on the entire trail. It is a boulder-filled gorge, requiring caving and rock climbing skills to negotiate, but those I've got:

Y'all play nice while I'm gone...

I hope you have a most excellent and safe time, and that the weather and the colors are exceptionally good! I look forward to your "trip report" upon your return. God Bless you, my friend.

I didn't take any of the pictures; I just know how to pick 'em.

I only adopt things...like bad habits.

'da Bunny:
Thanks, that's the plan.

I'll be back before you know it, and before I'm ready to be, no doubt.

Pat'sRick©:
I'm lookin' forward to it. I'll be on my way in just a few hours now.

JR:
David Letterman said ticks are our friends?! I have to differ, since I contracted Lyme Disease a couple of years ago, doubtless because of a tick. Fortunately it was caught early, and I made a complete recovery...

Jack,
I do not know if David Letterman got Lyme Disease, but he got nailed by ticks three or four times... "Checking for Ticks" is now one of his running gags...

How much vacation? Never enough, but having a great time is the plan.

Libby Gone™:
Awesome it is.

JR:
If David Letterman had Lyme Disease, it would tend to make him phobic about those nasty little arachnids.

All:
FYI, I'm currently in Vermont, at the home of a hiker friend and his wife...tomorrow it's on to Maine.

I don't know when I'll have access to "da 'Net" again, so T.T.F.N.

So far, I haven't seen any moose this trip.

All:
I'm on the Bethel, Maine Chamber of Commerce's computer, and I climbed to the top of Mount Katahdin on Monday. It is the highest peak in Maine, and the Northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.

Tomorrow I'm planning an assault on Mahoosuc Notch.

Wish me luck!

I survived two trips through the Mahoosuc Notch; one Northbound, t'other South...out and back, as 'twere.

I'll be heading for The Gathering shortly...

But wasn't your backyard kinda "wet-looking" fairly recently?
(Mine is now...)

My main concern was water in the basement, but it didn't become an issue.

As for your run for the Presidency, I'd vote for you...but you'd need about 50 million others to do likewise, methinks.

PS: So far this month, we've had this blog to ourselves...

Maybe it's better than being flooded with comments.

Speaking of which...
