Take a hike!!!

I'm heading off for a vacation in New England, staying for a week in Maine taking day hikes on the Appalachian Trail, culminating in a trip to a hiker get-together the following weekend in Hanover, NH:

The Autumn colors should be at their peak when I'm up there, too.

One of the places on the A.T. that I'm looking forward to visiting is the Mahoosuc Notch, the so-called "hardest mile" on the entire trail. It is a boulder-filled gorge, requiring caving and rock climbing skills to negotiate, but those I've got:

Y'all play nice while I'm gone...

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Someone around there is an excellent photographer!

I hope you have a most excellent and safe time, and that the weather and the colors are exceptionally good! I look forward to your "trip report" upon your return. God Bless you, my friend.

Have fun... Do not forget the great words of David Letterman "Ticks are our Friends"...

I didn't take any of the pictures; I just know how to pick 'em.

I only adopt things...like bad habits.

'da Bunny:
Thanks, that's the plan.

I'll be back before you know it, and before I'm ready to be, no doubt.

I'm lookin' forward to it. I'll be on my way in just a few hours now.

David Letterman said ticks are our friends?! I have to differ, since I contracted Lyme Disease a couple of years ago, doubtless because of a tick. Fortunately it was caught early, and I made a complete recovery...

I do not know if David Letterman got Lyme Disease, but he got nailed by ticks three or four times... "Checking for Ticks" is now one of his running gags...

How much vacation? Never enough, but having a great time is the plan.

Libby Gone™:
Awesome it is.

If David Letterman had Lyme Disease, it would tend to make him phobic about those nasty little arachnids.

FYI, I'm currently in Vermont, at the home of a hiker friend and his wife...tomorrow it's on to Maine.

I don't know when I'll have access to "da 'Net" again, so T.T.F.N.

Will your wife let you mount the moose over the fireplace? Some women frown on that. Maybe if you promised to dust it annually....

Maybe you should just shoot it with a camera, then have it blown up into a giant poster and framed in pewter before mounting it up there, I don't know....

So far, I haven't seen any moose this trip.

I'm on the Bethel, Maine Chamber of Commerce's computer, and I climbed to the top of Mount Katahdin on Monday. It is the highest peak in Maine, and the Northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.

Tomorrow I'm planning an assault on Mahoosuc Notch.

Wish me luck!

After a trip that so high, don't get the "bends" down in the notch.

All the best.

I survived two trips through the Mahoosuc Notch; one Northbound, t'other South...out and back, as 'twere.

I'll be heading for The Gathering shortly...

My backyard looks exactly like that number two picture...except the leaves on the trees are green...and palmetto is growing all up under the trees...and that wet-looking part at the bottom of your picture, is crab grass...oh! and there's a couple of old cars up on blocks. Otherwise my back yard's a spittin image of your picture.

But wasn't your backyard kinda "wet-looking" fairly recently?
(Mine is now...)

I heard about your "wet yard". Seems to be an epidemic, going around.

My yard suffered a drought all summer. As a result, it soaked up all the wet stuff as fast as it fell.

I'm busy clearing brush and fallen limbs, now (thinking about running for President).

My main concern was water in the basement, but it didn't become an issue.

As for your run for the Presidency, I'd vote for you...but you'd need about 50 million others to do likewise, methinks.

PS: So far this month, we've had this blog to ourselves...

Maybe it's better than being flooded with comments.
